Alex Koford is a California-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist forged in the lineage of one of rock’s most legendary legacies. As a longtime collaborator of Phil Lesh, bassist and founding member of the Grateful Dead, Koford spent over a decade performing as a drummer, guitarist, and vocalist with Phil Lesh & Friends and the Terrapin Family Band. Under Phil’s guidance, Alex absorbed the ethos of improvisation, community, and fearless exploration that defined the Dead’s enduring spirit.
Currently on the road with both Grateful Shred and the Terrapin Family Band, Koford is working on solo work that will offer a more intimate personal lens. He channels a style that’s a cosmic blend of Psychedelic Americana and soulful rock and his latest single, “Chemicals and Purple Haze,” follows a string of recent releases — including “When I Rise,” “A Fabled Lullaby,” and “Alive (Sacred Creatures)”. With each release, Koford tells his own story driven by a passion to connect through songs that speak from the heart and move the soul.
